This string trio concert will include works by:
Boccherini, Martinu and Mozart.

John Georgiadis: violin was London Symphony Orchestra leader from 1965 to 1979, the Kertesz, Previn, Abbado years. A founder member of the London Virtuosi Chamber Ensemble he also played 1st violin in the Gabrieli String Quartet (86-90), was violinist in the London String Trio (90-94) and Music Director and Conductor of the Bangkok Symphony (94-96). He currently combines violin chamber music activities with an international conducting career.

Stephen Shakeshaft: viola was appointed principal violist of the Scottish National Orchestra at the age of 25. His solo appearances there included "Harold In Italy" and the Walton Viola Concerto. In 1976 Stephen was a founder and Principal of the newly formed Scottish Chamber Orchestra.  On moving to London he was Principal of the BBC Concert Orchestra, and later, Co-principal Viola of the Royal Philharmonic.

Robert Truman: cello is one of the UKÕs most respected orchestral cellists.   Sir Colin Davis invited him to become Principal Cellist of the Royal Opera House Orchestra, Covent Garden and from there Robert went on to lead the cellos section of the London Philharmonic Orchestra for 21 years. He left the LPO two years ago in order to concentrate on playing chamber music.

Maria Oldak was born in Poland and began playing the violin at the age of five, studying with Danuta Sujata and Julia Jakowicz. In 2005 she graduated with First Class Honours from the Academy of Music in Warsaw before she took up a full scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she was taught by Igor Petrushevski. Graduating with Distinction, she was also awarded the DipRAM (given for an outstanding final recital) and a prize from the Vice-Principal in recognition of her successes.  Maria has won many prestigious prizes.  Maria is also an active chamber musician, performing regularly with her pianist, James Baillieu, as well as with her string quartet and clarinet trio She is currently working with the Scottish Ensemble, London Sinfonietta and is on trial for the Sub-Principal First Violin position with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

James Baillieu was born in South Africa. He graduated with distinction from the University of Cape Town.  He completed an Individualised Programme of Study in piano and accompaniment at Trinity College of Music, London and won many prizes. In 2004 he participated in the International Russian Music Piano Competition in California at which as a laureate he was awarded a scholarship to study in Vienna. At the Vienna International Pianists Academy James was awarded the prestigious Rosario Marciano prize.  His performances have included recitals in many parts of the UK and throughout Europe.

Miho Kawashima was born in Japan in 1987 and began to study the piano at the age of five. In 1996 her family moved to England, and she began to study with Ruth Nye becoming a pupil at the Yehudi Menuhin School in 2002. She has performed at the Royal Festival, Queen Elizabeth and Fairfield Hall and taken part in masterclasses with John Lill, Cristina Ortiz and Sir Colin Davis.   She was the youngest candidate in the Bechstein International Piano Competition 2006. In September 2006 she was awarded a scholarship to the Royal College of Music.

Tomoka Shigeno was born in Japan in 1988 and began serious study of the piano with her mother when she was nine. She has won prizes in several competitions and in 2003 she performed BeethovenÕs 3rd Piano Concerto in Japan. In September 2004 she entered the Yehudi Menuhin School, where she studied with Ruth Nye. Since joining the school she has performed as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician; in July 2005 she performed BachÕs G minor concerto with the Menuhin School Orchestra.   In November, she performed SchubertÕs Piano Quintet ŌThe TroutÕ with  members of The London Mozart Players in The Menuhin Hall. In January 2007 she won the Bronze Prize in the 8th International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia.  From September 2007, she began her undergraduate course, on a full scholarship at the Royal College of Music.
